A Brief Discussion on the Classification of LED Displays in Shandong
There are various classifications of LED displays in Shandong, generally categorized as follows: (1) Shandong LED displays are divided based on the usage environment into indoor, outdoor, and semi-outdoor. Indoor screens typically range from 1 square meter to over 10 square meters, have high pixel density, are used in environments without direct sunlight or strong lighting, have a viewing distance of only a few meters, and the screens are not sealed or waterproof.
There are various classifications of Shandong LED display screens, generally categorized as follows:
(1) Shandong LED display screens are classified by usage environment into indoor, outdoor, and semi-outdoor.

Indoor screens typically range from 1 square meter to over 10 square meters, have high pixel density, are used in environments without direct sunlight or strong lighting, have a viewing distance of only a few meters, and the screens are not sealed or waterproof. Outdoor screens generally range from a few square meters to dozens or even hundreds of square meters, have lower pixel density (mostly 1000-4000 pixels per square meter), brightness of 3000-6000 cd/m² (brightness requirements vary by direction), can be used under direct sunlight, and have viewing distances of tens of meters.
Semi-outdoor screens are located between indoor and outdoor environments, have higher brightness, can be used outdoors without direct sunlight, have some sealing, and are generally installed under eaves or inside display windows.
(2) Shandong LED display screens are categorized by color into single color, dual primary color, and three primary colors (true color).
Single color displays use only one color of luminous material, mostly vermilion red, with yellow-green used in special cases (such as funeral homes). Dual primary color screens generally consist of red and yellow-green luminous materials. Three-color screens include full color (full color), red, yellow-green (wavelength 570nm), and blue configurations, and true color (nature color) with red, pure green (wavelength 525nm), and blue.
(3) Shandong LED display screens are divided into synchronous and asynchronous types based on control or usage methods.
Synchronous mode means the LED display works similarly to a computer monitor, mapping images at a refresh rate of at least 30 frames per second, generally supporting multi-level grayscale color display, achieving multimedia advertising effects.
Asynchronous mode means the LED screen has storage and automatic playback functions. Text and non-grayscale images edited on a PC are transmitted via serial port or other network interfaces to the LED screen for offline automatic playback. It generally does not support multi-level grayscale display and is mainly used for displaying text information, allowing multi-screen networking.
(4) Shandong LED display screens are classified by pixel density or pixel pitch.
Indoor screens use LED dot matrix modules with relatively uniform specifications, generally classified by pixel pitch, mainly 8.75mm with 6000 pixels/m², 3.75mm with 44000 pixels/m², and 3.0mm with 60000 pixels/m². There is currently no very unified standard for pixel pitch and spacing on outdoor screens. According to pixels per square meter, there are various specifications such as 1024, 1600, 2000, 2500, and 4096 pixels.
(5) Classification can be based on display performance.
Video displays: usually full color displays.
Text displays: usually single color displays.
Graphic displays: usually dual primary color displays.
Market displays: usually digital tube or single color displays.
(6) Classification can be based on display devices.
LED digital displays: display devices are 7-segment digital tubes, suitable for making clock screens, interest rate screens, etc., suitable for numeric display. LED raster graphic displays: display devices consist of multiple uniformly lit LEDs forming raster display modules, suitable for playing text and image information.
LED video displays: display devices consist of many LEDs, capable of displaying videos, animations, and various video files.
